Perhaps I should add the caveat that he sold his house to a Jewish man? I still have trouble believing this actually happened but according to reports the man was tortured and eventually confessed to the crime of selling his house to Jewish man.
I am not sure what it says when the ethnicity of the person to whom one sells their property can make it a capital crime. I also find it curious that the man in question was a former intelligence officer for the Palestinian Authority. It makes me truly sad that hatred of Jews runs so deep that this poor man was killed for doing what people generally consider a basic function of life, buying and selling a home.
I remain unconvinced the United States can have any role in pushing for a lasting peace in this region until such time as attitudes like this change.
